The Spark
The concept for ≡VUM was born in 2019 from a simple observation: Analog wall clocks remain the pinnacle of aesthetic home decor, yet they have been entirely bypassed by the technological revolution.
In the words of co-founder Mr.Romil, "While a global pandemic temporarily shifted our priorities, the vision of blending classic sweeping hands with an automated, modern soul endured. The true catalyst arrived during an unexpected period of medical bedrest. Surrounded by the quiet of our room, my wife Mrs.Kinjal and I were distracted by a universal annoyance - The relentless, inaccurate 'tick-tock' of a standard wall clock. We realized that whether in homes, hospitals or hotels, clocks are almost always drifting behind, running fast or dead entirely. We decided it was time to bring the classic analog clock into the smart era."
The horology industry offered a stark, uncompromising divide. Consumers were forced to choose between cheap, mass-produced plastic clocks with loud quartz motors or expensive mechanical timepieces requiring constant manual tuning. No one was successfully marrying luxurious analog aesthetics with zero-maintenance smart technology. People didn't want another digital screen on their walls - They wanted the warmth of a traditional dial with the brains of a modern device. ≡VUM was designed to fill that exact void.
Identifying The Gap.
When we evaluated the horology industry, the divide was extreme. On one side, you had cheap, mass-produced plastic clocks with loud, stepping quartz motors. On the other, you had expensive, high-end mechanical clocks that still required manual time-setting and constant maintenance.
Nobody was successfully blending the luxurious, classic aesthetic of a sweeping analog timepiece with modern, zero-maintenance smart technology. People didn't want a digital screen on their living room wall; they wanted the warmth of an analog clock, but with the brains of a modern device. That's exactly the void we decided to fill.
Engineering The Future.
How do you integrate a Wi-Fi chip into a wall clock without draining the battery in a matter of days? We spent months deep in research, navigating the complexities of electronics and sourcing the absolute best mechanisms globally to bring our vision to life here in India.
We integrated a specialized, low-power Wifi chip. Instead of constantly searching for a signal, the chip utilizes a “deep sleep” mode. Once every week, it wakes up for just a few seconds, connects silently to the local Wi-Fi and performs a handshake with a global Network Time Protocol (NTP) server.
To ensure an absolute acoustic comfort, we paired this Wi-Fi brain with a premium, high-torque stepper motor. Instead of the jagged, loud ticking, the hands on our clock moved with whisper-quiet, fluid precision. To push the power efficiency even further, we integrated an intelligent nighttime sleep mode, pausing the silent sweeping second hand between midnight and 6:00 am.
The result? A perfectly accurate, whisper-silent clock with a battery life that lasts for 9 to 12 months or, with our rechargeable model, a timepiece that can run virtually forever. Hence, we brought to life, the seamless marriage of traditional horology and invisible, 21st-century technology.

Under RKD Horology LLP, our mission is to bring a standard of excellence to every wall that needs it. We are catering to the minimalist at home who wants the warm aesthetic of an analog face with absolute acoustic comfort for a peaceful night's sleep but we are equally focused on large-scale impact.
By eliminating the labour costs of manual time adjustments and seasonal drifts, we are transforming how hospitals, schools and global hotel chains operate, allowing them to effortlessly sync hundreds of clocks across their facilities including Daylight Saving Time wherever and whenever applicable. We set out to break our routine and build something that genuinely contributes to society.
Today, we aren't just selling a clock, we are providing the peace of mind that comes with knowing that whenever you look up, the time is exactly right.

EVUM clocks are individually handcrafted by skilled artisans across Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra by master craftsmen who have been perfecting their trades longer than most modern clock brands have even existed.
This is why an EVUM clock requires an investment. It costs more than the cheap plastic alternatives and in return, it is built to outlast the very furniture you place it next to. Since they are shaped by human hands, no two EVUM clocks are ever perfectly identical. There will always be tiny, beautiful variations - A slightly deeper engraving, a uniquely rich patina or a subtle, organic impression on the frame. We do not 'fix' these. They are not flaws. They are the signature of the artisans and the ultimate proof that a human being crafted your timepiece.
We deliberately restrict our production to just 15 clocks a day. But we ensure that they will be the best 15 clocks made that day in India.
